Recent Movies That Have Me Obsessed
from sci-fi to holiday movies here are some recent watches & thoughts...
NO SPOILERS
So I recently have been getting back into watching movies. However, it did take me more than a week to finish one of them due to work and school. Anyways, back to back, they have been bangers, like some of my FAVORITES. I wanted to share this with someone, and thought why not write a blog post? It’s like a journal entry, but public.
Now, onto the movies!
1. Interstellar
It's the one with Anne Hathaway and Matthew Mccona.. (yea however you spell that), and it has one of the saddest endings EVER. Like, I don’t want to spoil it in case you haven’t watched, even though I’m silently judging because HOW?! I literally watched this one for over a week, but as soon as I got past the 1:30 hr mark (which felt like a feat due to the slow development), I was in for the ride. One night while watching, it had me contemplating my existence. I had to shut it off for the night and watch a funny vlog to peacefully go to sleep. I’ll leave it at that, but surely I have convinced you to watch it. 🤣
2. Dune
The cinematography, the actors and actresses..namely Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, and the setting of the desert with that worm was just wow. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that places like those exist in the world, just endless deserts! Cannot wait for part 2, I was flabbergasted at the fact that it ended like that. I asked my mom multiple times if that was seriously the end. So rude...so rude. Overall, A+ set me up perfectly for part 2, and excited to see it!
3. The King
Now, I know what you’re thinking...and I agree. After Dune, I wanted to see every movie with Timothée that I could see. I’ve watched Lady Bird, Call Me By Your Name, Hot Summer Nights, Little Women (that comes in as my #4), and he was in Interstellar for a hot minute. Look, I just felt compelled to and there’s also Robert Pattinson. But I digress. Let’s get into the review for the movie. The King was just *chefs kiss*. There was character development, the losses brought tears to my eyes, and the ENDING with the twist. I did not expect that! Honestly, I did not see it coming until the movie set it up/foreshadowed it. Anyway, this might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you like watching a bit of everything, like me, give it a watch!
4. Little Women
I cried, actually no, balled my eyes out at multiple scenes in this film. My heart went through a rollercoaster with this one. I was lost at first with the multiple timeframes (being shown the past and present simultaneously). Saoirse is simply captivating, she puts her soul into her acting and I love her character so much. Towards the end, after Amy and "a special someone" get engaged, her reaction breaks me. I can’t say more but I definitely will be rewatching it multiple times. Such a precious group of people! 🥹
5. The Holiday
(SPOILER AHEAD...couldn't help myself)
I absolutely didn’t know what to expect as I saw this on Netflix and was dissuaded by seeing it was another early 2k all-white romcom. Then, and thank God for this, someone I trust posted this movie on her story with Jude Law. Sooo I sat down and started watching it. Needless to say, I was hooked from the get-go.
Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black’s acting was phenomenal. Everything was great from start to finish. I felt so many emotions in one sitting, and that’s how you know it’s good. This one also had me crying (which is not so hard for me), and it’s so funny, considering Cameron Diaz’s character, Amanda, couldn’t for so long. In the scene where Amanda balled her eyes out, I was right there with her. She never cries, and while I wish I could be like her, I am sadly more of a Graham, Jude Law’s character. Anyway, it’s a perfect watch for the holiday season! It definitely brought the well-needed Christmas vibes.
Okay, people! These are my recent movie favorites. Of course, there are more but these were first-watches and I just had to share. If you watch any of them let me know how you find them! I love them all. I don’t know what the future holds with this “blog”/substack, but we shall see!
For now tata xx
